Ready, Set, KINDERGARTEN!

Tuesday is our first official day of Kindergarten! I am So anxious and excited to have the class all together! Please make sure you send your child with a backpack and their homework folder! I will also be looking in their backpacks/folders for the items listed in my previous post, including the fluoride payment, which is a donation of $5. I also have several people who signed up to help with PTA, and I would LOVE to sign some up as members! I still have the forms and the cost is $6.

Make sure you are doing reading for 15 to 20 minutes each night with your child. Use the orange reading folder to record reading time with the title of  the book, minutes read, and parent initials. The orange folders are due in the classroom on Tuesday, September 4, the day after labor day! I am excited to see how much reading has been done and award students with a special treat in their folders!

It has been such a pleasure meeting each of you and getting the chance to spend some one on one time with your child! They are all so special and wonderful! Thank you for the opportunity and privaledge of being their teacher this year!

A few extra notes:

*Children must wear their nametags each day during the first week!
*There are still a few apples on my supply bulletin board. If you are interested in donating items, please take them off the board and return with the item and your child's name on the apple.
*There will be NO peanut products allowed in class this year. We have a couple kids with peanut allergies. Be aware of this when choosing class snack.
*I will be collecting the first "All About Me" homework assignment from the students' homework folders! Please make sure your child knows what is on their small poster so he/she can share it with the class. It may be helpful to make notes, just in case I need to help them out! There will also be a homework assignment on the first day of school. It is a worksheet going over the "Give Me Five" rule in our classroom. Make sure to ALWAYS sign your name under your child's on the homework.

Happy First Day of School!

WELCOME!

Hello and welcome to our class blog! Please visit it often to keep up to date on things happening at school!
Welcome to our Kindergarten Class this year! I am SO excited to meet each of you! I can't wait to get started! Our first official day of Kindergarten is Tuesday August 28. In the mean time, I will be meeting with each of you individually to go over important paperwork, get to know you and your child, and spend time doing a beginning assessment! Please be on time for your appointment! I have planned about 40 minutes for each meeting. Punctuality is very important, so that I may stay on schedule. Please make this a special time for you and your Kindergartner, and if at all possible, do NOT bring other siblings. Less distractions will help your child do well on the assessment!
During our meeting, be sure to bring the items listed on the letter I sent previously.

*Fluoride Payment: $5
*1 zipper pencil pouch: 88 cents at Walmart or dollar store
*Nonperishable class snack for 30 students
*9 small glue sticks
*One box of baby wet wipes
*One 1.5 inch binder with a view
*1 package of 25 clear sheet protectors
*A small picture of your child for our first bulletin board (wallet size is preferred)
*Up to date Immunizations if applicable

Thank you for your cooperation thus far! Remember I am available to answer questions or address concerns whenever possible. If you need anything, please let me know! We are going to have a SUPER  year!
