Cute Kids At The Park!

Reflections!

Reflections time once again! We would like to invite you to encourage your students to enter this year! There are eight different categories and students can enter as many as they want, but not twice in the same category. The categories are as follows: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, visual arts, theater, and 3D.

This years theme is "The Magic of a Moment..." and entries are due in the office by 4 P.M. on Friday, October 26th.

Please remind your students that they can't have their name on the front of their work. There are other specific rules and guidelines for each category and you can see them online at www.utahpta.org, click on Reflections on the left hand side, or you can pick up a list of the rules in Mrs. Isom's office.

A Few Reminders on Reading, Sight Words, and Skill Sheets!

I just wanted to remind everyone to be working on their reading calendars (blue sheets), sight word lists (orange sheets), and monthly skill sheets (green sheets). Make sure you are reading with your student for a minimum of 15-20 minutes each night and recording your reading time in the reading folder using the blue reading record. Please write the title of the book, time read, and initial in the space. Students who consistently return their reading folders and blue record sheets will receive prizes in the folders! Great job so far! Remember orange reading folders are due each first day of the week! Remind your student to turn it in!

Next, make sure you are practicing the sight words each night. Please sign the slip and return it to school with the list when your child is ready to pass it off! Sight word list #2 will be coming in October!

Finally, please work with your child on passing off each section on the green skill sheet. Sign the bottom and return it to school as soon as you have completed the sheet and your child has mastered each concept! A new skill sheet will be coming next month! Good luck! We are making progress and diving in to new concepts!

Sign and Label Activity!

Attention Parents:
We have been learning a lot about signs, labels and environmental print in our class. We will be reading a book called I Read Signs and creating a class sign and label book. I would like each child to bring three signs and/or labels to class by Tuesday, Sept. 18. Examples of signs and labels include: well known cereal labels, snacks, or foods (Lucky Charms, Cheerios, fruit snacks, McDonalds, etc.) and pictures of environmental print or signs in the community (stop signs, cross walk signs, exit signs, etc.) As long as your child can recognize the sign or label, I will accept it. Please cut out the labels and signs, so they will fit inside an envelope with your child’s name on the front. I will collect these labels on Tuesday and we will create a class book on Wednesday. Thanks for all you do!

Evacuation Drill

On Friday September 14, we will be having a practice Evacuation Drill. The purpose of the drill is to have a meeting place for all students at our school if there were ever a reason that we needed to evacuate the building. We will be walking to Canyon Park, which is our school meeting place. We will then return to school for the reminder of the day.
